Ezekiel 41:15 contains the unusual word ואתוקיהא, vocalized וְאַתִּיקֶ֛יהָא.  The word appears in the context of Ezekiel’s vision of the Temple in Jerusalem, and clearly denotes an architectural feature.  The word appears again in the next verse, and then several times in the next chapter.

Tawil relates the Hebrew אתיק to the Akkadian etēqu “to pass along”, and equates it with the Akkadian architectural term mētequ “passage” which is used in a similar context.

It is related to עתק, which also means to pass along or go through, and according to Tawil is related to the same Akkadian root.

עתק, he points out, is used nine times in תנ”ך as a verb, meaning either “to move or pass through, proceed.” or to “live in, go by (said of life), become advanced of age and/or feeble”.

When Abraham ויעתק משם ההרה, he is moving to the mountains, the first sense of עתק.

In modern Hebrew, עתק has two meanings.  It is a verb meaning to copy, and an adjective meaning antient.  Both senses are used in modern Hebrew.  Copy is already hinted at in Proverbs 21:1: גם אלה משלי שלמה אשר העתיקו אנשי חזקיה.

There is another sense of עתק which means arrogance:
