Mordechai Cogan in his commentary in מקרא לישראל points out that traditional commentators relate the word בושסכם to בוס or בסס and interpret it to meant “trample”.

HALOT cites Torczyner in Journal of the Palestine Oriental Society 16:6 (which I am unfortunately unable to access) who suggests that the word is from the Akkadian sabasu or sibsa, to extract a corn tax.  Tawil also relates to the Akkadian šabāšu, to collect a a tax, gather..

Similarly: 30 tn Traditionally, “because you trample on the poor” (cf. KJV, ASV, NAB, NIV, NRSV, NLT). The traditional view derives the verb from בּוּס (bus, “to trample”; cf. Isa. 14:25), but more likely it is cognate to an Akkadian verb meaning “to exact an agricultural tax” (see H. R. Cohen, Biblical Hapax Legomena [SBLDS], 49; S. M. Paul, Amos [Hermeneia], 172-73).

Chaim Cohen in his dissertation on Hapax Legomenga (p. 114-116) writes also relates it to šabāšu and suggests emending the text to שבסכם (dropping the initial letter ב) and translating: “Therefore, because you exact rent from the poor, and you take a grain tax from him.”
