כשיל וכילפת

תהלים עד:ו
ועת [ק' וְ֭עַתָּה] פִּתּוּחֶ֣יהָ יָּ֑חַד בְּכַשִּׁ֥יל וְ֝כֵֽילַפֹּ֗ת יַהֲלֹמֽוּן:

 

According to Tawil and HALOT כילף is from the Akkadian kalappu (kalabbu) meaning axe.  The word appears only here in TaNa”KH.  Tawil points out that “pair כשיל וכילפת ‘hatchets and axes’ seems to be the corresponding parallel pair of the Akk. kalabbu//akkulu ‘axe//hatchet’”

כשיל also appears only in this verse.  Tawil has no entry for it though.

The root הלמ is fairly unusual, and I have posted about it separately.
